Key Role

The Senior Manager, Industry Relations (Healthcare & Pharmacy) has proven strengths in developing stakeholder relationships to drive adoption and implementation of GS1 Canada’s standards and solutions offerings for designated channels and subscribers (Vendor, Provider/Distributors, and Solution Providers) to enhance patient care and safety.

Bringing passion and community engagement, the Senior Manager delivers on the mission of GS1 Canada’s healthcare strategy, which aims to improve patient safety, as well as health system visibility and efficiencies through the adoption of a common system of global supply chain standards.   

The individual performing this role will have exceptional knowledge of the Canadian Healthcare system from the point of procurement to patient care delivery.  This individual will report to the Senior Director, Industry Relations - Pharmacy (Healthcare), and works closely with other department heads to define the healthcare strategy and work collaboratively to execute associated internal and external requirements. Key Metrics can include: effective account management, community management to support standards development, and achieving targets for cost recovery and sector engagement.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manages and leads healthcare and pharmacy specific assignments and initiatives promoting patient safety, health system efficiency, and visibility under the guidance of the Senior Director, Industry Relations – Pharmacy (Healthcare);
  • Takes a leadership position within assigned subscriber accounts to:
  • Optimize on value proposition and services at multiple levels and departments within the subscriber accounts;
  • Formulate management strategic direction;
  • Identify and drive revenue opportunities;
  • Engage incremental services;
  • Engage in community management/standards development activity;
  • Creates and maintains status reporting and benchmarking for respective subscriber accounts;
  • Engage community partners to champion development and implementation; and
  • Provide management with regular updates on projects and subscriber accounts.
  • Supports GS1 Canada data providers and data recipients by providing educational presentations and requirements as necessary;
  • Establishes and maintains strong relationships at multiple levels and departments with external stakeholders;Collaborates internally with other GS1 Canada departments on GS1 Canada internal projects, account deliverables and other healthcare initiatives;
  • Aligns knowledge of GS1 standards and GS1 Canada services with community and client identified business needs;
  • Participates as a member of the Industry Relations team sharing, communicating, building relationships and co-coordinating with cross channel stakeholders;
  • Establishes and maintains stakeholder profiles, and benchmarking.
  • Provides reports on progress and identifies areas requiring executive attention;
  • Ensures ongoing understanding of all relevant emerging technologies and services provided by GS1 Canada;
  • Manages and facilitate the GS1 Canada Healthcare and Pharmacy work groups, task groups, and workshops through community management process in collaboration with the corporate affairs team;
  • Secures GS1 Canada’s participation contracts with each account engaging within the healthcare and pharmacy sectors;
  • Engages community partners to champion development and implementation, facilitating the workshop, and community management processes;
  • Ensures the resolution of stakeholder needs from a technology and business perspective as they relate to implementation of the GS1 Canada Healthcare strategy;
  • Collaborates with internal department leaders to ensure stakeholder requirements are delivered;
  • Establishes guidelines and procedures, referencing organizational frameworks;
  • Develops an in-depth understanding of key business drivers and proactively provides ideas and solutions within GS1 Canada to enhance performance through improved stakeholder service delivery, communications, processes and policies;
  • Manage account receivables and associated tasks; and
  • Perform various other duties as delegated or assigned.

Required Knowledge, Skills, & Experience

  • University Degree or College Diploma in a related field (i.e. B. Comm., Pharmacy Technician etc.);
  • 5 years experience in an account management role or business development capacity, preferably within an associated industry (i.e.: Healthcare, Distribution, etc.);
  • High level of proficiency using MS Office skills including Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Outlook;
  • Must have a strong understanding of products and services provided by GS1 Canada;
  • Experience within the Canadian Healthcare sector and/or Supply Chain industry is a strong asset;
  • Proven ability to articulate and resolve complex project related problems and execute innovative solutions;
  • An understanding of EDI, ERP, Clinical systems, and business analysis is beneficial;
  • An understanding of Health Canada regulations and processes is beneficial;
  • Proven ability to anticipate potential obstacles and future trends with strategic thinking skills and the ability to put abstract concepts into operational success;
  • Capacity to manage and deliver multiple priorities to competing and sometimes conflicting commitments quickly and effectively;
  • Proven ability to multi-task given incomplete and conflicting knowledge, and prioritize multiple projects/initiatives in a deadline-driven environment;
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, ability to set priorities and manage many projects concurrently;
  • Strong communication and presentation skills, both written and verbal with French language an asset;
  • Project Management skills an asset; and
  • Demonstrable experience in working autonomously and effectively while in the GS1 Canada office and telecommuting.
